Bio

Nyla Raze is the stage identity of Nyla Campbell, a Portmore-based dancehall vocalist. Agile deejay phrasing and short melodic responses leave space for the riddim and a recurring movement that can become part of a performance. The voice is assertive without losing humour, moving between Jamaican Patois and English with a clear point of view. Cobalt, orange and ordinary street textures give the visuals a strong signature. Nyla remains the vocalist at the centre; dancers and producers may collaborate without becoming permanent band members.
